On 21st February, Southern Cross Motel Group celebrated our First birthday! In our first year we’ve grown significantly, now with 11 properties in 9 locations across regional NSW and QLD.
We’ve been pleased to welcome 112,538 guests and serve 72,028 meals in just 12 months!
Best of all we’re looking forward to even bigger numbers in year 2.
We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to all our guests, employees and the wider community for the ongoing support
The Southern Cross Motel Group is excited to welcome our 11thproperty – The Bowen Inn Lithgow!
Located off the Great Western Highway, close to both the Lithgow Hospital and Notre Dame University, The Bowen Inn offers a central location perfect for accessing Lithgow sites, such as the Jenolan Caves or the Zig-Zag Railway, or for escaping to the Blue Mountains and surrounding New South Wales countryside. The Inn is a 25-room property, with well-appointed guest rooms and the quality of service you’ve come to expect from a Southern Cross Motel Group property. Notably, the Lithgow property offers disability friendly rooms and resources, a complimentary gym, laundry facilities and on-site parking. With an array of room types, including family rooms and spa rooms, The Bowen Inn offers the perfect solution for any business and leisure travellers.
The addition of The Bowen Inn hopes to further facilitate SCMG’s plans to offer consistent four-star accommodation in strategic regional towns, to service all travelling needs.
Watch this space for more information regarding our on-site Surveyors Restaurant; soon to be open to the public for coffee, breakfast and dinner!

Supporting local communities is part of our DNA at Southern Cross Motel Group. In big ways and small, we ensure we are paying attention to what is going on in our towns, and we are constantly on the lookout for ways to assist.
Both The Downtown Motor Inn and The Palms Motel in Chinchilla sponsor local charities including the local RSL and St Joseph’s School Fair.
Windmill Motel and Event Centre in Mackay is active in sponsoring sporting groups, including the Queensland Mountain Bike Championships and the Pioneer Swimming Carnival.
It’s our way of supporting the locals and giving back whenever we can.
