Narrabri West Lake was originally a swamp which was converted lake by volunteers. The recreational playground is now a great spot for swimmers, kayakers, paddleboarders and windsurfers. There is also a 3km walking track around the circumference of the lake for those who are fitness inclined.

Birdwatches will love Narrabri West Lake, as it is a natural haven for loads of local and migrating birds including black swans and cygnets which can often be seen feeding amongst the reeds. There is also a kids playground, picnic tables and BBQ facilities in the area as well.

Yarrie Lake lies 28kms West of Narrabri and is a 3km wide body of water which is thought to be formed by a meteor strike many thousands of years ago. It is home to over 70 bird species and is a great spot for photographers, kayakers, paddleboarders and campers. There is no fishing in the lake, however there is ample opportunity for yabbying if you have a NSW fishing licence.
