We all know that our major cities put on amazing fireworks shows for New Year’s Eve but did you know that many of our regional towns host quite a celebration as well? The celebrations are distinctly family affairs with fireworks plus a host of attractions for young and old.
Parkes Harness Racing Club invites everyone to join in the excitement at their annual New Year’s Cup at Parkes Showground. As well as racing and punting, there will be a free jumping castle and face painting, photo booth, along with bike and scooter giveaways throughout the night, making the day a perfect family outing. A free sweepstakes will be held on the night with prizes for everyone who draws a horse. And the night will finish with a firework display to ring in 2018. For further details, please contact the club on (02) 6862 5966 or by email secretary@parkesharnessracing.
If you’re in Narrabri, The Crossing Theatre invites locals and visitors to join them on the lawn for a free New Year’s Eve family fireworks event. Featuring live entertainment, jumping castles and food & bar facilities, this is an event for the whole family. Bring along your picnics, chairs & blankets and enjoy.
Not to be outdone, Dubbo is laying claim to regional NSW’s best fireworks at Caltex Park. BYO rug or chairs and picnic. The party kicks off at 5pm with market stalls, lots of children’s activities and a mini carnival. Take part in all the entertainment for only a gold coin donation upon arrival in support of a local charity.
We continue to be proud of our product, our service and our people, but it’s great to know that there is plenty of public and industry recognition for Southern Cross Motel Group properties.
James, Rachel and the team at Windmill Hotel and Event Centre is proud as punch to be awarded the Mackay Region Tourism Awards 2017 Best Business Event Venue.
Well-positioned on the banks of the Gooseponds, the Windmill Motel and Events Centre is a short drive to the CBD. If you’re looking for somewhere to hold an event – corporate or social- the landscaped gardens and large entertainment area are the perfect place to gather, entertain and celebrate.
And further south, Station Motel Parkes is a finalist in the Sir Henry’s Business Excellence Awards which promote commercial and economic development in the region. A great example of our Managers’ work to connect with their local community and the economic development of Parkes.
Station Motel in Parkes celebrated its tenth birthday in style with a black-tie dinner hosted by managers Karyn and Ian Wade-Parker.
Guests included local dignitaries including the Mayor of Parkes, Mr Ken Keith as well as our CEO, Liam Kelly.
On the night, Liam, a dedicated data man, shared some interesting statistics with the guests. Across the past ten years, Station Motel has hosted 125,000 guests, made almost that same number of beds, served 55,000 breakfasts, 88,000 dinners and welcomed locals and visitors alike with its signature hospitality and attentive service.
While he stopped short of calculating the total number of sheets and towels (a lot), that’s an enormous contribution by any standard.
Karyn and Ian are particularly proud of the service provided by their staff: we’d love for you to experience it first-hand.
By now you’ll have organised your Cup day celebrations – an office sweep perhaps, a fascinator or two and some chicken and champagne delivered to the door.
At the end of the festivities, if you’re looking for somewhere to kick back and finish your day, look no further than one of our welcoming motel restaurants or bars: Canecutters Kitchen in Bundaberg, Station Restaurant Parkes, The Palms Chinchilla, The Mill in Mackay and Coffee House Rockhampton.
All of our restaurants are open for business Tuesday evenings and we welcome you and your guests to celebrate your wins or commiserate and recover after a big day out.
